As a celebration of the official opening day of baseball (the Red Sox and A’s already played their first 2 regular season games last week in Japan – the Red Sox won the first, the A’s the second), I thought I would come on out of the left field corn and post a little blog post. Speaking of corn, the purpose of this post is to express my love of corn chips/nacho chips. They might be my #2 favorite food behind the almighty cookie. Simply delicious. Go ahead, go pick up some nacho chips, melt some shredded cheese on them, and try to not enjoy them. If you have some taco meat lying around, toss that on top to make yourself a meal.

Update
September 5, 2007In my Stumbles (StumbleUpon) across the great internets I came across an interesting collection of points. One of them was that we don’t need any of our toes except for our big toe, and that our toes are just evolutionary bi-products of our ancestors (like the tail-bone). That led me to do a little more research on the matter, and I found some very interesting theories.
First one being that our big toes were once opposable like our thumbs (also the largest digit of its own domain), but that it has adapted to walking upright, and is crucial for that undertaking. I remember seeing reports about a football player breaking his big toe, and how it took months for him to start playing again because of the impact it had on his ability to walk, run, and play. I couldn’t believe it. But it turns out that it is the only, and thus most crucial, toe that helps us balance while walking upright.
Other ideas I found include the term “Morton’s toe” which refers to the second toe being longer than the first. Fun fact #457 about me: My second toe is longer than my big toe on my right foot, but not on my left. This accounts for the 1/2 shoe size difference between my two feet. Theories about the Morton’s toe, sometimes called a Greek foot (as opposed to and Egyptian foot where the big toe is longest), are that it is a sign of intelligence and beauty, and that it is a genetic disorder. That sounds about right. (highly reliable source) But does that mean that the right side of my body is intelligent, beautiful, and a freak, but that my left side isn’t? That could be a good sign that I am right in pursuing a career in the design world – a hint that my right brain is genetically superior to my left.
But I digress. The point of this post is just to inform all yalls that I could be supported in my single blade-toe theory of not-so-many weeks ago. Namaste.

Surfing
August 30, 2007Fun fact number 33: I have never been surfing. Normal surfing, or the mutated “super-terrific fun” version – wake surfing. I have been wakeboarding, thanks to Brittney’s family. I never even really liked boating before I went with Brittney’s family – when it literally became sink or swim. I had to like it or they would have rejected me as a possible suitor, and fitted me for a nice pair of cement galoshes. They are hardcore.
So anyways…. I don’t surf. I lack the ability to stop water from gushing into my brain cavity unless I plug my nose with my hand, so I don’t think it would go well.
Random post tonight, but I haven’t posted for a couple of days and I felt I owed it to my fan. Thanks for reading, Mom.

Dante
August 18, 2007Fun Fact: I have a dog. His name is Dante, and he will turn 9 in a little over two weeks. He is the best and greatest dog ever. He is an Alaskan Malamute, and weighs in at a little over 100 pounds. Unfortunately he doesn’t live with us because we can’t have pets where we live, but we are hoping he will someday. He has been included in the running for the title of the All-time Champion Dog, with his fellow contestants being Lassie, Clifford, and the real darkhorse of the competition, Cujo. I think Dante is in the lead spot going into the final voting period. We’ll see how it turns out.

Birth
August 16, 2007Fun fact: I was born in the year of the monkey. I don’t even like monkeys all that much. Don’t get me wrong, I find them as comical and entertaining as the next guy; despite a rather traumatic monkey encounter I experienced one fine June 5th at a German zoo. Here are some of my favorite animals (edit: In no particular order):

Funnish Fact
August 8, 2007The first concert I ever went to was a Beach Boys concert for my mom’s work party (WordPerfect) when I was 11. The last concert I went to was Death Cab for Cutie. That was a long time ago, and I am going to make a concerted effort (pun absolutely intented) to attend more good shows. I plan on starting next month by going to see Muse with the tickets that Brittney so awesomely got us for my birthday.

Fun Facts
August 4, 2007I’m going to start posting random facts about me, or probably more often, just random facts about anything.
Random fact of the numero uno: I once slept for 20 hours without the aid of medication or non-chronic illness.
